Colorado Thoroughbred Rescue a 501c3 Non-Profit Equine Rehabilitation and Adoption Center
Updated 2/25/2007
40 Horses have been spared from
slaughter because of Colorado TB
Rescue.  These horses have been
rehabilitated and  placed in
carefully screened, lifelong
adoptive homes.
Fritz's owners said they could not
sell their 24 yr old, well broke,
sound mare because she had
become too skinny.  They were
moving and could no longer keep
her.  Instead of selling her at the
local slaughter sale, the horse was
purchased by Colorado TB Rescue.
The photo shows Dr. Stacey Bluhm
floating Fritz's severly neglected
teeth.  Fritz gained several hundred
pounds and found a home in
Trindad, CO where she serves as a
lawn-mower on a hay farm with
another CTR adoptee, Rufus.

Colorado TB Rescue has created a partnership with Turning Point, a local agency that works with
high-risk youth and their family.
Together, we are using our rescued horses to teach children basic
horse-care, riding, and careers available in the equine industry. The program takes place on the
weekends during the summer.

Volunteers and contributions are necessary to allow CTR to help horses and children .

Over 40 CSU Unity volunteers came to CTR and volunteered their time.  The girls, all members of the
same sorority, painted fencing, cleaned tack, organized files, and helped everywhere they could.  The
high winds made working outside very difficult, but everyone made a wonderful effort and kept a smile
on their face!  Our horses loved the extra attentions.  Babies Willy and Peggy tried to help paint, but only
succeeded in painting themselves.

Thank you so much for your assistance!

CTR and "Friends of Barbaro" celebrated the life of Barbaro, the 2006 Kentucky Derby winner who
was lost to injuries sustained during the Preakness race.  The party, celebrated near the birthday of
the famous Barbaro, is a time for fans to gather and share their love of horses.

Marydel did an amazing job of organizing the party, and her famous carrot cake was enjoyed by all.
Thank you to everyone who could attend.  To those who could not attend, you were greatly missed!
